The EOS T5/1200D uses the older Digic 4 processor and doesn’t seem to be able to support lens firmware updating. If you have an older camera, or older lens, you won't see the option for lens firmware upgrade.ĮDIT: It appears that not all cameras made since 2012 are able to update lens firmware. The 1D X, 5D Mark III, and 650D/T4i were the first cameras to have this option. The lens firmware option only appears if a newer lens (with firmware upgrade capability) is attached to a newer camera. Cameras produced after that date have two categories for firmware updates: Camera or Lens Canon added the ability to upgrade the firmware on it's new lenses starting sometime in 2012.
